My WWF WrestleMania IV Pictures From 1988

wm4I’m sitting at home getting ready to watch my first live WrestleMania since I was 14 years old. I was a huge wrestling fan as a kid. I had 7th row tickets for WrestleMania 4 in Atlantic City, New Jersey at the Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino. It got me all nostalgic. My mom passed away a couple years ago. She raised me solo. Now as an adult, it blows my mind trying to figure out how financially she was able to make ends meet. These tickets cost over $100, which back then was crazy money. Not to mention the airfare, hotel and other expenses.

If that wasn’t enough, when we got to Atlantic City, we rented a car and drove all around the backwoods of New Jersey trying to find a pro wrestling school I read about in Sports Illustrated. This was long before GPS. We never found it. So her 14 year old son’s dream of being the next Roddy Piper would have to wait.

It was 1988. The only one my mother could've possibly reached with that car phone is the driver 6 feet away.

This was when the WWF turned Bret Hart into a "babyface" (good guy). The other guy in the ring was "Bad News Brown." He double crossed Bret and eliminated him to win the battle royal.

Not bad for a Kodak Disc camera huh? Remember those?

I’ve just come across this. I am incredibly jealous. I’m only 16 but the 80’s and early 90’s is my favourite time for WWF and my favourite wrestler ever is Jake Roberts. These pictures are fascinating. I enjoyed looking at the pictures and imagining what it would have been like to see it from there. I also have the first 5 WrestleManias on DVD which I watch regularly. Thanks for sharing these.

Also, I have the official program from this event, I found it on eBay in mint condition. One of the biggest regrets I have in my whole life is not buying the WrestleMania 3 program at the same time which was being sold by the same guy.

Thanks Cameron. Those first few WrestleManias were the best. Years later, I announced a show with Jake Roberts. He’s the pro wrestler that’s the most like his in ring character that I’ve ever met.

        Geno!
These Wrestlemania IV photos are absolutely amazing and priceless! Wrestlemania IV was my first event I saw! My dad took me to a closed circuit location in Massachusetts and ever since then Wrestlemania IV is my favorite event ever and has a special place in my heart! Something about the arena and city that just gives me goosebumps! I have a pretty awesome Wrestlemania IV collection of memorabilia from the event such as posters, Tshirts, hats, the actual cardboard poster that was hung throughout Trump Plaza with the ticket prices Etc. All I collect is 80s-1992 WWF memorabilia! It will never be the same as it was! Those truly were the best days in wrestling history! Thank you so much for showing your photos!

Glad you enjoyed man! I saw one of the first King of The Ring’s… before they were on PPV at the old Sullivan Stadium in Foxboro!

Thanks for sharing, very jealous man! Was such a huge hulkamaniac as a kid, would have loved to see him in his prime. Was a huge demolition fan then too, plus I was in love with Elizabeth, like most of us were! Thanks again
