Charlie Daniels Calls Me From The Grand Ole Opry
At 80, Charlie Daniels isn’t slowing down anytime soon. He did 100 shows in 2016 and will be in Tampa Bay three times this year. Saturday night, he plays England Brothers Park in Pinellas Park. On May 28, he joins Alabama at Amalie Arena. And then later this year, look for his return for another week of fundraising for The Angelus House in Hudson.
Humble as ever, Charlie talked to me about how he found out he was going to be inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame: “That’s the one you don’t even dream about. You don’t have any way to lobby for it. It’s just a blessing from God.”
Charlie also talked about the title of his autobiography coming out this year, ‘Never Look At The Empty Seats’ as well as his early memories of his first performance at The Grand Ole Opry.
